A narrow stone passage opens toward brilliant light on Yosemite’s mist-soaked trail. Dark granite walls frame the path while suspended circles of water and light drift through the scene, giving the photograph an almost dreamlike sense of movement.
The water patterns were formed naturally on the camera lens as the photograph was taken. Rather than being removed, they remain part of the finished artwork—an atmospheric record of the spray, moisture, and changing light present in that moment.
Between Stone and Light sits between landscape photography and abstraction. From across a room, the illuminated opening draws the viewer through the rocks. Up close, wet stone, shadow, mist, and translucent lens droplets reveal the physical conditions in which the image was made.
